Training has started! We’re both working hard to build up strength and stamina in preparation for our 250km trek later this year.
HELEN: I like to mix up my training sessions to challenge a range of muscle groups and keep me interested. I love being outdoors, so my preference is for a training schedule that means spending as much time outside as possible. This week, I’m hitting the water with my outrigger canoe group as well as working on my cardio with simple exercises using battle ropes and weights.
LISA: I enjoy nothing better than getting sweaty and feeling my heart pumping out of my chest. My favourite sessions are boxing and battle ropes with my personal trainer who is helping to improve my cardio fitness and prepare my body for our epic pilgrimage . I make use of my lunch breaks at work and head to the gym to for some strength and conditioning, then after work me and Charlie (my dog) get out in the fresh air and go for a long push along the track to the beach and back.
